A stately home or country house provides a stunning venue and a magical setting for your Hertfordshire wedding day. There are some truly magnificent venues located in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside which will make your big day magical all by itself.
I’ve performed at weddings held in many of these stunning locations, helping to add even more magic to such a special day. The spectacular backdrops mean I can greet your guests as they walk through the majestic entrance, perform close-up magic at a drinks reception held in the exquisitely manicured gardens, or at the tables in the stunning dining halls while everyone enjoys a delicious wedding breakfast.
Here are some of the top wedding venues in Hertfordshire to consider for your wedding and reception in 2020:
Hatfield House is a 500 year old stately home providing a stunning venue in beautiful grounds. It is steeped in history and it was the home of Queen Elizabeth I during her childhood. I’ve performed at dinners held in the Old Palace and outside in the Elizabethan knot garden which is a charming area for the drinks reception on a beautiful sunny day.
Knebworth House is a very romantic place to have your wedding. Set in landscaped gardens and with impressive architecture that includes turrets, domes and gargoyles. There’s a choice of stunning stately rooms, a banqueting hall, or a contemporary oak barn with a private garden. Always a wonderful venue.
Another stunning venue, North Mymms Park is a Grade I listed Elizabethan Mansion. Beautiful architecture, decorations and landscaped gardens providing indoor and outdoor spaces suitable for ceremonies – my favourite spot is the Loggia, a marble, arched canopy providing an impressive location for two people to pledge their love to each other.
Ashridge House is a Grade I listed country house which resides in a 190-acre estate which was once the Hunting Lodge of King Henry VIII. I love the magnificent sweeping staircase overlooking the Main Hall which is perfect for photo opportunities. And if you’re planning a late-night, book the guest accommodation in the stable block.
Brocket Hall is one of England’s finest stately homes, set in 543 acres of beautiful parkland. It is always a joy for me to perform at weddings held in the Hall, whether it’s table magic for 200 in the magnificent ballroom, or a drinks reception in the grounds.
Sopwell House is a stunning Georgian country house set in 12 acres of Hertfordshire countryside. It’s elegant period architecture, beautiful interiors and picturesque garden make it ideal for weddings of up to 300 people.
Hanbury Manor, a luxury hotel full of historic charm and elegance, has stunning period features and spectacular grounds. With its vaulted ceilings and a minstrel’s gallery for larger weddings, you will really be living the dream. And if your dream is to get married in an outdoor space but don’t want to risk the weather, the Summerhouse is the perfect compromise.
Whether you’re planning a large event or small, intimate family day, Shendish Manor’s breath-taking architecture and exquisite gardens will provide the perfect backdrop for your wedding and make you believe yours is a fairy tale romance. You can either have a smaller wedding in the Manor House or hire the Apsley Suite for a larger number of guests.
