Gaynes Park makes a brilliant wedding venue because it’s really secluded – the estate’s thousand acres is surrounded by countryside, so you feel like you’re miles away from anywhere. Whereas in fact, you’re 10 minutes from the M25 and M11, and only a couple of miles away from Epping underground station!
I was recently booked to perform some wedding magic there. The wedding breakfast had been held in the stunning Mill Barn and the guests were moved to the Orangery whilst the Barn was being set up for the evening reception. The chairs had been arranged in semi-circular groups of five or six which was a perfect setting for me to perform in! Between 6 and 7 o’clock, I made my way from one side of the room to the other keeping everyone entertained and lively at what can be a low energy part of the day, by which time the evening guests had begun to arrive.
As the day guests greeted the evening guests, I heard a lot of them say ‘have you seen the magician yet?’ Then they brought people over to me to watch. I spent another half an hour in the Orangery whilst the final touches to the reception were being put in place. What I was able to do was provide a great ice-breaker which encouraged the new guests to relax more quickly and start mingling with the people already there. In fact, it turned out to be an absolutely electric atmosphere, with everyone ready to party all night.
“Just wanted to say thank you for being apart of our wedding at Gaynes Park on Saturday. Our guests have not stopped saying what a amazing magician you are!! your tricks were epic. I’ll be honest and say some of my friends don’t fall for magicians easily but my god they were in shock!! We would definitely book you again so we can see more of your amazing work.” Sam Warne
